PERSONAL [internship | nyc] 3:55 PM

As most of you already know, I've been interning for an amazingly talented celebrity fashion Stylist for the last 3 months. Although I've learn a lot and gained a life time worth of experience in the short amount of time (which I'm truly grateful for), an opportunity has come to me that I had to jump on. Which means unfortunately I won't be interning for the Stylist any longer. I guess you can say the opportunity just landed in our laps and we ran with it.

A very good friend of mine just graduated with a degree in Fashion Design and we started to talk about what's her next step after graduating. She told me she was interested in looking for internships in NY & LA and I told her if she gets something in NY I'd go with her. At first it was just a thought and then we started to apply for internship out there just to see if they'd even be interested in having us intern. We (or at least I) wasn't expecting any responses at all, but once I got a few responses wanted to interview me, the next thing we knew... So was she. And that when we decided a month from yesterday we had to jump on the opportunity and move out to New York for a few months and try and get an internship within the Fashion Industry (me: fashion mag & PR/events. Her: fashion design). We know that if we didn't, we'd always say "what if?".

Our goal is to try and work/intern up until Fall 2010 Fashion week, which is mid February. Its a very crazy and exciting time for the both of us and we are truly touched by all the love & support we're receiving from our family & friends. You guys mean the world to us and we wouldn't be able to do this without you.

I know most of you guys are wondering... "What about your husband?", "are you guys still together?", is he going with you?". To answer all your questions: yes, we're still together/married. He's a wonderful loving husband who is allowing me to fallow/pursue my passion/dreams while he's trucking on at his job back in LA to pay the bills. I'm a lucky gal... I know!

The plane is landing and Interviews start tomorrow... Let the madness begin!

P.S. I forgot to mention the hubby also got a new job and we moved from West LA back down to Torrance all around the same time. We just got everything to Torrance on Sunday. I feel bad, there's boxes everywhere. I didn't have time to unpack. I was up until 4am this morning packing for NY. Crazy times & its about to get even crazier. Oh I also styled a photo shoot in the middle of all that as well... But that's another post.

PERSONAL: [my ninja clothing | photo shoot] 1:11 AM

if you haven't heard about My Ninja Clothing before, you should definitely check it out. It's a t-shirt line my friend Peter Hong created a couple of years ago and it's taking off.

Last Saturday he shot his new line for his Fall 2009 lookbook. Which he kindly asked me to help style along with Layne. We started at Noon and i had to jam around 6:15pm and they were still going strong after i left. it was a long day but so much fun and such an amazing group of people... everyone was great. I also got my girl Jane, who does AMAZING hair to jump on board too. Peter has an amazing/talented group of people helping him make his vision on true. i can't wait until you guys get to see the lookbook.

PERSONAL: [internship | photoshoot] 1:34 PM

As we all know, every profession has many different types/variations of jobs within that profession. for example, i was a print graphic designer for 7 years but there's also web designers, motions graphics, logo designers, etc. that all falls under the Graphic Designer umbrella. As for a fashion stylist there's editorial/photo shoots, Print Ads, TV, Movies, Celebrity and so on.

At the moment I'm interning for a Celebrity Fashion Stylist who mostly dresses clients for the events that they have to go to. which don't get me wrong is fun and amazing... but I've ALWAYS wanted to style for a photo shoot/editorial and work on the behind the scenes of a fashion show.

So when the stylist told me that she was going to take me with her to a photo shoot... i was ECSTATIC!! My very first all out photo shoot and it was everything it thought and wanted it to be. the sets where amazing, the vibe on the shoot was high energy with a DJ playing music to keep a fun/happy environment. so far it's probably been my favorite thing I've gotten to do during this internship so far.

next on my list is helping out backstage at a high end fashion show... lets do this!

PERSONAL: [mina's bday | scavenger hunt] 12:30 PM

i had never really heard of a bday scavenger hunt before. So when i heard about Mina's, my initial thought/reaction was "this could either be super fun or really awful!" But to honest, it was SO much FUN!!!

they broke us up into groups. they separate the couples into different groups, which i think was smart (i think i had more fun not being on the hubby's team ha). then they gave us a list of things we have to do, get, photograph and/or video tape. (i.e. get a stranger to pump your gas, human pyramid in front of the Mc Donald's arches, find a 1979 coin, 42¢ stamp, get an application at a hostess bar, down a beer with a stranger, take 4 shots, take a photo on a firetruck (extra points if with a fire fighter), slide down the fire station pole...) each item was given a point of how much it's worth and at the end of the hunt everyone's items were tallied up based of the points and not the number of items your group completed.

my team consist of me, kelsey, morgan, jay & steve. unfortunately we came in second to the hubby's team. but in the end we all had fun time... we even wanted to try and extend the scavenger hunt.

all in all what a great idea. i highly recommend this to everyone. here's some of the photos of the tasks we accomplished...


oh yeah and while doing these tasks we had to wear masks. heehee

PERSONAL: [internship | emmys] 10:42 PM

We've been gearing up for the Emmy's every since I've started interning, which has been almost a month & a half now.

And today all our hard work & long hours will pay off. We dressed 4 clients for tonight's event & all 4 dresses are gorgeous! But we all know its not only about the dress... Its the hair, make up & accessories as well. Which sadly isn't always in the stylist control but none the less they all looked fabulous tonight!

We also got a few new interns this week in which one of them I get the feeling is very cut throat and is willing to stab people in the back to get what & where she wants. She's already trying to get bossy with everyone on her 3rd day. So I must watch what I say to her & keep my distance.

All I know is I just have to keep my head held high & stay forever on the up rise!

Did you guys watch the Emmy's? I normally get bored of awards shows, but Neil Patrick Harris did a good job. It was entertaining.

PERSONAL: [internship | reem acra] 10:44 PM

The Emmys are this Sunday, which means busy, busy, busy! Today we worked 12+hrs, met with fashion designer, Reem Acra, who btw is so extremely sweet, adorable & so amazing! <3 her! We got to see first hand her Spring 2010 collection, fresh off the NY runway. Had 3 fittings back to back and our last fitting ended @ 8pm.

What a crazy long day. But to tell you the truth meeting Reem Acra was so worth all of that, I'm still in ahh from meeting her. What an amazing experience, I'm so extremely grateful for all the opportunities/experiences the stylist has given me thus far (little over a month). Its definitely hard work, but worth every moment.

Styling is definitely want I wanna do, I enjoy every moment of it. Its as fun & exciting as it sounds but a lot more work & harder than you'd think it would be.

Ok Off to bed, another long day & early start tomorrow. Boy am I pooped.
